Wednesday Vignette: Dragons and Lemurs

You might be wondering about the title of my WV post this week. What could dragons and lemurs possibly have in common? Well, I think of both when I look at the rising bloom stalks of Sedum 'Antique Grill'. I've been watching them grow for a couple weeks now, and the same images keep popping into my head: dragon (or possibly sea serpent) heads on long, crooked necks, or ring-tailed lemurs with their tails raised in the air, dipping at the tips.

Now look at this picture and try not to see one of those two images.

Thanks to Anna at Flutter & Hum for hosting Wednesday Vignette.

  1. Fun! I can see both of your images but 'Antique Grill?' Really?

    1. Yeah, I don't know about the name. Maybe whoever named it had some sort of old decorative copper grill with that blue-green patina?

  2. Maybe the Lock Ness Monster. I wouldn't have envisioned the lemur tail if you hadn't mentioned it but then it's been awhile since I've been to the zoo.

    1. Nessie came to my mind, too. Ring-tailed lemurs were one of my favorite animals when I was younger, so that image comes to mind readily for me.

  3. What Peter said... 'Antique Grill"???? I think your associations were far more illustrative!

    1. Hehe, maybe I'll have to come up with my own selection of Sedum forsterianum, from which this cultivar arose.

    1. It's rather fitting, given my Scottish heritage.

  5. My garden is full of dragons (mostly with "dragon" in their name). Maybe I need some of this. It's much more evocative visually.

    1. A dragon-themed garden in the making? I'd be happy to supply some starts!
