As they are, those areas stick out like a sore thumb.Evan Beanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06732413653862912387noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3725795560485860373.post-18490451222806757992014-04-17T16:08:02.929-07:002014-04-17T16:08:02.929-07:00It is a lot of lawn. My mom is oddly resistant, even though she complains about all the mowing.

I was annoyed at the over-use of landscape fabric (it does have its uses) and appalled at the use of black plastic. When we first moved to this house 16 or 17 years ago, there were 3 Doug firs surrounded with black plastic. I didn't think anyone did that anymore either, especially in places around downspouts that need to DRAIN! Seriously!Evan Beanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06732413653862912387noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3725795560485860373.post-11484698072932492352014-04-16T11:18:35.116-07:002014-04-16T11:18:35.116-07:00So many fun possibilities! You see, the old growth insulates the roots of the plant during the winter and as it slowly breaks down, it acts as a water retentive mulch in the summer and adds organic matter to the soil. Being an accomplished procrastinator/garden sloth, I can justify any degree of garden neglect pretty well. outlawgardenerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08273973572989510382noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3725795560485860373.post-79244887589510003332014-04-16T08:54:10.604-07:002014-04-16T08:54:10.604-07:00Wow, that's a lot of lawn!
